Please join us for Foothills’ 2024 Fundraising Auction “The Courageous Love Boat”

Live Auction: Saturday, October 19th, from 5:30 to 8:30 PM

Online Auction: Saturday, October 15th – 22nd

There are several ways to get involved! You can register here to join us in person. You can also donate to our auction by donating a creative event or item. See below for details and ideas.

Join us live! If you join us for the Live Auction, nautical or cruise wear is encouraged, but not required. Tickets are $40 each. Join us for a first rate dinner in our new dining room aboard the Courageous Love Boat. Beer, wine, mocktails and sparkling water will be available. There will be live lounge music throughout the evening performed by the one and only Julie Koenig on mic and Piano. Some of the Online Auction items will be displayed for you to check out, and you can even bid on your phone at the event! Then we’ll enjoy the Live Auction with auctioneer John Clatworthy.

We need you to register by October 8th so we can provide the caterer with the final number.

Donate to our auction events! Just like in years past we will be auctioning community-building experiences. No event is too big or too small and the more creative the better! Auction events throughout the year are a great way to meet people. Paper donation forms available upon request on Sundays. Deadline to submit donation forms is October 8th.

Here are some (sea)worthy donation ideas:
  • Do you have a big dining room but don’t like to cook? Do you love to cook but don’t have a big dining room?  Let us know, and we’ll team you up with someone for a FANTASTIC dinner party donation!
  • Do you have a tickets to an upcoming event that you can’t use? This would be a SPLASHY donation.
  • Movie night – you make the popcorn! (A Finding Nemo, The Life of Pi, or Pirates of the Caribbean theme might create a wave!) Or how about a party on Oscar Night?
  • If you have a flexible schedule, offer transportation for someone to or from the airport.
  • Decorate someone’s home for a holiday or a milestone event – Birthday, Retirement, Christmas, Easter, 4th of July.
  • Host a themed dinner – meet new people!
  • Teach a class – beer making, knitting, sewing, fly fishing. If it’s fun for you, share it!
  • Lead a hike and provide the snacks / lunch.
  • How about pet sitting, house sitting, babysitting?
  • Are you a shipshape organizer? Offer your first rate services.
  • Housecleaning, gutter cleaning – or a trip to the landfill would help someone without a truck.
  • If you love to garden, donate your time and expertise to someone – you might have new ideas for them.
  • Game night at your house, complete with fun snacks!
  • Be someone’s Personal Chef for a night – go to their house and prepare a delicious meal.
  • Host a Christmas cookie baking party and exchange.
  • Donate a gift card from your favorite restaurant or store – you might share a secret find, and perhaps you’d be helping one of our local businesses find some new customers.

The Grove & August 27, 2024 Town Hall

Last night, we met with over 50 congregants in person and online. We launched The Grove at our Town Hall meeting. The Grove is a new concept that we are initiating to help our most engaged community members to have easy access to the institutional information that they care about and that we can use your help in managing.

There are often details going on at the organizational level that are not a part of ministry but they affect how we provide ministry. Things like, the state of our building, engagement trends, financial matters, communications questions. The Grove is an intentional community to share these details with those that want them, while not overly inundating newcomers and other community members who do not need to interact with this information.

The Grove is open to anyone who wants to join. It’s an effort toward greater transparency and increased resiliency as we continue to grow in numbers.

Check out this video put together by Rev. Sean that invites you to better understand what the Grove is and how you can expect to interact with it if you join.

Contact Katie Watkins at katie@foothillsuu.org if you have questions about The Grove. We know that navigating an online app can sometimes be intimidating, so we are working on providing some tech support opportunities for anyone who needs a little extra help. More details to come.

Town Hall Updates

Quarterly Town Hall and Congregational meetings will provide in-person and online interaction for this group to connect and ask questions. At last night’s event, we shared several updates. You can watch a recording of the meeting below.
